EV ChargeON Program

The EV ChargeON program, designed to boost the adoption of electric vehicles, offers funding for the installation of public electric vehicle (EV) chargers in communities outside of major cities, including London, Ontario.

Charging Stations funded by this Program must be in Ontario and must be Publicly Accessible 24 hour per day, 365 days per year. EV chargers that cannot be used by the general public are ineligible for this Program.

I did my due diligence and shopped around for quotes, but Somerton not only had a reasonable price, but they provided me a quote on the spot. They were also upfront about possible extra charges (which some other companies didn't).

Residents in London, Ontario are encouraged to take advantage of the EV ChargeON program. This program plans to expand the network of public electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across different local areas. By enhancing infrastructure and cost-effectiveness, this program aims to incentivize a broader acquisition of electric vehicles among residents. Let Somerton Electric assist you in determining the ideal EV charging infrastructure that suits your specific requirements.

Eligible applicants, located and operating in London, Ontario, include:

Businesses

Not-for-profit corporations

Municipal governments

Indigenous communities, organizations, or businesses

Broader public sector organizations

To apply, you must be the current owner of the site or have written approval from the owner or Band Council to install and operate the charging station for a minimum of 5 years.

For a limited time, the EV ChargeON Program has increased to:

Up to $2,000 per Level 2 charging station

Up to $97,000 for EV Infrastructure

Up to 50% of your total project costs through NRCan (Maximum of $5,000,000)

Up to $700 per residential single-family home

EV Charging Station Requirements:

Be publicly accessible 24/7
Include at least one of the following:
Four Level 2 ports
One Level 3 port and one Level 2 port
Two Level 3 ports
Include specific connector types:
Level 2 chargers: SAE J1772 standard connector
Level 3 chargers: Combined Charging System (CCS) connectors (representing a minimum of 25% of the connectors)

Funding Details:

The funding available for each project in London, Ontario depends on the type of applicant and the proposed charging technology. The maximum amount of funding available per project is $1 million. The provincial funding amount will be determined by the percentage cap (75% or 50%) and the technology cap based on the charger type.
